EvapTech Series ES / ESP Product Line is Now FM Approved

EvapTech Series ES Product Line Is Now FM Approved

FM Approvals, a subsidiary of FM Global, Inc., has issued its Certificate of Compliance for EvapTech's Series ES Field Erected Induced Draft Counterflow Cooling Towers. The Approval applies to both single cell and multi-cell configurations of EvapTech's fire-retardant fiberglass cooling towers. The Approval is based on the FM Approval Standard for Cooling Towers (CLass 4930) that became effective May 31, 2010.

EvapTech now offers Series ES field erected cooling tower products certified and Approved according to the Approval Standard for Cooling Towers (May 31, 2010). These products allow a customer to evaluate their cooling tower investment considering their preferred degree of protection and product performance. EvapTech’s FM Approved products deliver some great benefits to their owners and operators.

 1. Reliability of Operations: Fires and natural hazards caused by earthquakes, ice, snow, hurricanes, and tornadoes typically impair or devastate large cooling towers. The result – no cooling capability when it is urgently needed. The Series ES cooling tower products will be ready to serve you when they are needed the most. Series ES towers minimize and can even eliminate costly interruption to business and production operations caused by fires and natural hazards.

 2. Hardened: The Series ES cooling tower products are exceptionally sturdy and durable compared to standard industry cooling tower products. The Series ES is “hazard tested” passing FM Approvals' missile (simulating wind borne debris impacts), static pressure, and cyclic pressure (simulating hurricane force winds) tests performed on fan cylinders and EvapTech’s SafeWall™ casing systems. The level of protection the Series ES towers provide is definitely a cut above the industry norm.

 3. Productivity: FM Approvals objectively tests property loss prevention products and services and certifies those that meet rigorous loss prevention standards including water cooling towers. The objective of this testing is to assure continuity of operations and productivity of facilities. Post fire event thermal capacity is defined in the FM Standard and requires at least 75% of capacity following a fire for both single and multi-cell tower classifications. EvapTech’s Series ES delivers on productivity. Be sure to consider the upgrade to the premium Series ESP towers and eliminate redundancy and recovery costs.

 4. Cost Effective: The FM Approved Series ES products do not require costly fire protection systems to install and maintain. Another significant benefit may be reduced insurance premiums to tower owners and operators. Depending on the Series ES product selected for an application, the cost to recover from an event can be minimized too. Getting back on line and into production quickly is more likely with a Series ES tower, especially the premium Series ESP.

5. Variety of Designs Available: The Series ES family of cooling tower products offers choices for different levels of protection and performance. Choose your cooling tower “hardness” factors for wind load exposure and customize your tower’s thermal capability and fill service life.

6. Assured Product Quality: The components and their arrangement for an FM Approved cooling tower cannot be changed or altered. Every combustible component of FM Approved products must be manufactured to an exact specification. Individual components must be produced using explicit material formulations. Quality control procedures for each component are initially audited by FM Approvals and then annual audits are conducted to assure the same components are consistently produced. The quality and consistency of an FM Approved cooling tower has become a constant in an industry that has no independent third-party certification standards.

 7. Environmentally Preferred: FM Approved towers contain catastrophe and prevent the spread of destruction due to fire and other natural hazards. The Series ES towers produce far less pollution from fires than their non-FM counterparts. This is especially the case for the premium Series ESP products that are literally self-extinguishing. FM Approved towers represent a reduced risk to the processes they serve and their local plant environment.
