Inspection Service Options
Summary Inspection
For customers needing a high-level assessment, EvapTech representatives can visually evaluate the tower while it is in operation to provide recommended action items based on budget, schedule, and equipment criticality in a summary email with limited pictures.
Basic Inspection
The basic inspection is performed by experienced construction personnel while each cell is offline to provide an overview of key cooling tower systems, including structure, fill media, drift eliminators, distribution piping and nozzles, fan stacks, and mechanical equipment.
Detailed Mechanical Inspection
In addition to the basic inspection scope, EvapTech can inspect the mechanical equipment in accordance with the EvapTech 18-Point Mechanical Inspection Checklist. The documentation of the mechanical measurements such as blade tracking, tip clearance, pitch angle, and motor and gearbox alignment will be included with the formal inspection report.
Detailed Structural Inspection
In addition to the basic inspection scope, EvapTech can place additional focus on accessible structural members. Members found to be in poor condition can be identified and marked for replacement on a structural sketch included with the inspection report. More extensive structural evaluations, including laboratory testing or engineering review, are also available.
Detailed Fill Inspection
In addition to the basic inspection scope, EvapTech can remove a full depth of fill from a selected cell, weigh the removed fill for comparison to the original fill weight, and reinstall the fill. The fill weight comparison will be documented in a table included with the inspection report.
What to Expect
Inspections are typically scheduled within a two-week execution window, with the exact inspection date coordinated approximately one week before mobilization. If an exact date is required during peak months, additional costs may apply. Standard inspection scopes assume access to at least one cell at a time, no more than one hour of lockout/tagout time between cells, and a tower that is considered a non-permitted confined space without known atmospheric or engulfing hazards. Preliminary findings are generally issued within 1–3 days, while the formal report may require several weeks depending on scope and workload. A sample inspection report is available here.
